Bridges

A dental bridge is a type of dental restoration that is used to replace one or more missing teeth by "bridging" the gap between two remaining teeth. A bridge typically consists of two or more crowns placed on the teeth on either side of the gap, known as abutment teeth, with a false tooth or teeth in between, known as pontics.

Dental bridges are typically made from zirconia.

The process of getting a dental bridge involves several appointments. The first step is to prepare the abutment teeth for the bridge by removing a small portion of the enamel and reshaping them to fit the crowns. An impression of the teeth is then made and sent to a dental laboratory, where a custom-made bridge is created to fit over the prepared teeth.

While the permanent bridge is being made, a temporary bridge may be placed to protect the abutment teeth and maintain the shape of the gums and surrounding teeth. When the permanent bridge is ready, the temporary bridge is removed and the permanent bridge is cemented in place.

Dental bridges can help to restore the function and appearance of the teeth, as well as prevent other teeth from shifting out of place. They can also help to improve the ability to chew and speak properly. With proper care, such as regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups, a dental bridge can last for many years.
