Pulpotomy
Post-Operative Instructions for Pulpotomy

What to expect:
-
The gums around the treated tooth may be tender for a day or two.
-
Mild sensitivity when chewing on the treated tooth can occur as your child adjusts.
-
If local anesthesia (numbing) was used, your child’s lips, cheeks, and tongue may feel numb for several hours.
Care at home:
-
Watch your child until the numbness wears off to prevent accidental biting of the lips, cheeks, or tongue.
-
Soft foods are recommended until numbness is gone. After that, a normal diet may be resumed.
-
Avoid sticky or chewy foods (gum, caramel, taffy) that could loosen a filling or crown.
-
Brush and floss as usual, keeping the area clean.
Follow-up:
-
If a crown or filling comes off, save it (if possible) and contact our office promptly.
-
If only a temporary filling was placed, your child will need a silver crown at a future appointment to fully protect the tooth.
-
Contact us if you notice swelling, fever, or ongoing discomfort beyond a few days.
