Crown/Bridge Seats
Thank you for choosing The Dental Clinic for your dental care. Proper post-operative care is crucial for a smooth recovery and to ensure the longevity of your new crown/bridge. Please follow these instructions carefully:

-
Numbness:
-
The anesthetic used during your procedure may leave your lips, teeth, and tongue feeling numb for a few hours. Avoid chewing until the numbness has completely worn off to prevent accidentally biting your lips, cheeks, or tongue.
-
-
Bite Adjustment:
-
It may take a few days to adjust to the feel of your new crown/bridge. If your bite feels uneven or you experience discomfort when chewing, please contact our office. An adjustment may be necessary to ensure proper fit and function.
-
-
Pain Management:
-
Mild discomfort or sensitivity is normal after a crown/bridge seating. Take prescribed pain medications as directed. Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can also help manage discomfort.
-
Sensitivity to hot, cold, and pressure is common. This should decrease over time. If sensitivity persists or worsens, contact our office.
-
-
Diet:
-
You can resume your normal diet once the numbness has worn off. However, avoid chewing hard, crunchy, or sticky foods on the side with the new crown for the first 24 hours to allow the cement to set properly.
-
-
Oral Hygiene:
-
Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing daily. Be gentle around the new crown, especially near the gumline.
-
Use a fluoride mouthwash daily to help protect the crowned tooth and the surrounding teeth.
-
-
Activity:
-
You can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, avoid any activities that might put undue stress on the new crown/bridge.
-
-
Long-Term Care:
-
Avoid using your teeth as tools (e.g., opening packages) and refrain from chewing on hard objects (e.g., ice, pens) to prevent damage to the crown.
-
Regular dental check-ups are essential to monitor the condition of your crown/bridge and overall oral health. Ensure you keep up with your routine cleanings and exams.
-
-
Signs of Concern:
-
If you experience severe pain, prolonged sensitivity, swelling, or signs of infection (pus, foul odor), or if the crown/bridge feels loose or comes off, contact our office immediately for an evaluation.
-
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Your comfort and recovery are our top priorities. Thank you for choosing The Dental Clinic for your dental care needs.
