Fillings

To ensure the best possible recovery and longevity of your new filling, please follow these post-operative care instructions:

  1. Numbness:

    • The anesthetic used during your procedure may leave your lips, teeth, and tongue feeling numb for a few hours. Avoid chewing until the numbness has completely worn off to prevent accidentally biting your lips, cheeks, or tongue.

  2. Eating and Drinking:

    • Once the numbness subsides, you can resume eating and drinking. Be cautious with hot or cold foods and beverages, as your teeth may be sensitive.

  3. Sensitivity:

    • It is normal to experience some sensitivity to pressure, hot, and cold for a few days to a week after your filling. This sensitivity should gradually decrease. If it persists or worsens, please contact our office.

  4. Oral Hygiene:

    • Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing daily. Be gentle around the filled tooth initially to avoid any discomfort.

  5. Bite Adjustment:

    • If your bite feels uneven or you experience any discomfort while chewing, please contact our office. It may be necessary to adjust the filling to ensure a proper bite.

  6. Avoiding Hard Foods:

    • Refrain from chewing hard foods, ice, or using your teeth as tools (e.g., opening packages) as this can damage the filling and your teeth.

  7. Follow-Up:

    • Keep up with your regular dental check-ups and cleanings. This will help monitor the condition of your filling and overall oral health.

  8. Pain Management:

    • If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help. Follow the dosage instructions on the packaging.

  9. Signs of Concern:

    • If you notice persistent pain, increased sensitivity, swelling, or if the filling feels loose or falls out, contact our office immediately for an evaluation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities. Thank you for choosing The Dental Clinic for your dental care needs.
